7 Things I Had to Stop Doing to Move Forward

Sometimes the Fastest Way Forward Is to Let Go

We often talk about what to do to create freedom, build income, and design a better life, but rarely about what to stop doing.

When I started my journey from career stress and uncertainty to creating an online business that gave me control over my time, income, and future, I realized it wasn’t just about learning new skills. It was about unlearning old habits that were holding me back.

So here are 7 things I had to stop doing to truly move forward. And if you’re stuck in the grind, chances are these may be holding you back too.

1. Stop Thinking Small

I used to think earning £5–10k/month online was only for influencers, tech geniuses, or people with huge audiences.

That belief? A lie.

The truth is: ordinary people with the right mindset and mentorship can create extraordinary results. But it starts by believing that more is possible for you. Think bigger, because your potential is far greater than you’ve been led to believe.

2. Stop Waiting for the “Right Time”

Spoiler alert: there is no perfect time.

Waiting for the stars to align will keep you stuck in a cycle of procrastination and frustration. Progress happens when you take imperfect action, even when you feel unsure. Start before you’re ready, clarity comes through doing.

3. Stop Trying to Do It Alone

One of my biggest breakthroughs came when I stopped trying to figure everything out myself and found a community of people on the same path.

You need people around you who get it. Who lift you, challenge you, and remind you you’re not crazy for wanting more from life. Surround yourself with doers, not doubters.

4. Stop Telling Yourself You’re Not “Techy” Enough

You don’t need to be a coder or a social media whiz to build a digital income stream.

I used to think tech would be my biggest obstacle. But with the right tools and support, I found out most of it is learnable, or even better, automatable. You can figure this out (yes, even you).

5. Stop Following the Crowd

It’s easy to let friends, family, or colleagues influence your decisions, especially if they think you’re crazy for stepping off the traditional path.

But following the crowd never leads to freedom. If you want a different life, you have to be willing to do things differently. Let them live their story, and write your own.

6. Stop Consuming, Start Creating

I used to binge-watch YouTube videos on success and online business… but never applied what I learned.

Consuming content can feel productive, but it’s not the same as taking action. Shift your focus from learning more to doing something. Action builds momentum. Momentum builds results.

7. Stop Doubting Your Worth

This is a big one. If you’ve ever thought:

  • “Who would buy from me?”
  • “I’m not an expert.”
  • “I’ve failed before, so maybe this isn’t for me…”

…just know this: everyone starts with doubts. What matters is that you show up anyway. You can build a life and business you’re proud of. You just have to stop believing the voice that says you can’t.

Growth Is Subtraction Before It’s Addition

If you’re feeling stuck, it might not be because you haven’t found the right thing to do…
It might be because you haven’t stopped doing the wrong things.

Letting go is powerful.
So ask yourself, what do I need to stop doing, today, to finally move forward?

You don’t need to get it perfect.
You just need to get it going.
